Long Beach police officers responded to call on Thursday night for a hit-and-run. According to reports, a man trying to stop a liquor store thief was hit by a van near Anaheim Street. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the man laid on the street and the involved vehicle was no longer there.
Witnesses said that the man was going after a thief at a liquor store and got on the hood of the thief’s car. The thief kept driving with the victim on the hood until he made a sharp turn to get him off his car. Once the victim fell, he was hit by a van. The van was not involved in what happened at the liquor store.
The Long Beach Fire Department tried to save the victim. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers suspect that the victim may have been a security guard. The victim is yet to be identified and the detectives are still looking for any videos from the area that may help them identify the thief and his vehicle.
