Before 3 a.m. Tuesday, a fire broke out in a shared attic of a two-story apartment building on 7th Street in Upland. According to the San Bernardino County Fire Department, the fire damaged 40 units, killed pets, and injured one firefighter.
Survivor Debra Perez said that the fire started upstairs in one of the corner apartments and it immediately rushed to the middle and spreading throughout the building due to the wind and large attic space, damaging 40 units before it was put out by the firefighters. Luckily no residents were hurt. Investigation on the cause of the fire is still ongoing.
