A small single-passenger kit-built plane had taken off from the airport and went down in a field near one end of the runway instantly killing the pilot on Monday at around 2:30 PM. The plane crashed and burned right away near Porterville Municipal Airport in California’s Central Valley.
The aircraft was thoroughly incinerated making it difficult for the authorities to investigate. The National Transportation Safety Board identified the plane as a Vans RV6A, and further investigation is still ongoing for the cause of the crash and more details.
