California Highway Patrol reported a multi-vehicle collision on the 210 Freeway in Fontana near Citrus Avenue. A semi-truck loaded with sand overturned and spilled its payload closing all westbound lanes.
The closure of the lanes caused miles-long traffic as the morning commute continued. It is still unclear when the other lanes would be opened due to the leftover sandpile from the accident.
One unidentified person was reported dead at the scene, and the cause of the accident is still under investigation.
