Attorney General Xavier Becerra announced that the State of California will face the Trump administration for their recent decision that does not allow foreign students to take online-only courses in the US Fall semester. Becerra stated that this policy makes the universities a hotspot of the disease and the policy itself is unlawful.
According to the Homeland Security Deputy Secretary Ken Cuccinelli, “If a school isn’t going to open or if they’re going to be 100% online, then we wouldn’t exact people to be here for that.”
The University of Southern California posted a statement that they are working to offer in-person classes for their foreign students so they can maintain their visa. Other schools across the state have also expressed similar concerns.
The lawsuit is to be filed in the Northern District of California.
