April 25, 2020 – the California Highway Patrol reported a fatal crash on the 10 Freeway in Jefferson Park where a teenage boy was killed and four others were injured during a parade commemorating the Armenian Genocide anniversary.
A 16-year-old boy was driving a Dodge Charger when he lost control of the wheel and crashed onto the freeway’s center divider wall. The car spun out of control, flipped and landed on its roof. There were three other teenagers in the car, with one of them thrown out of the vehicle during the flip. The ejected passenger died while the other three suffered several injuries.
While the cause of the crash and the events leading to it are still being investigated, a video posted on a social media account showed a car swerving across the lanes and eventually spiraling out of control. The video also showed the car’s passengers hanging out of the windows in a celebratory mood. This video, however, has since been deleted.
