A 65-YEAR old man was a victim of two hit-and-run crashes Monday night in the Highland Park area.
According to police reports, the victim was walking in an unmarked crosswalk along Munson Avenue when a motorcycle heading York Boulevard hit him. He fell to the ground and the motorcyclist sped off.
Bystanders attended to the victim and called for an ambulance. However, they did not move him out of the curb.
A second vehicle came by and hit the victim while he was still on the curb. The driver also fled the scene. People in the area tried to stop the driver but had no chance against the speeding vehicle.
The victim survived both crashes but suffered major injuries. Paramedics took the victim to a nearby hospital for immediate treatment.
Detectives were able to gather surveillance videos that captured the motorcycle crash. However, they had no information on the second vehicle.
The police department is offering $25,000 for information that would lead to the drivers’ arrests.
